Granitoids, Gneisses, Sedimentary Rock
by Polly Bennett
Bennett undergoes investigations into her surrounding environment in order to re-visualise an experience of her own, and create one for the viewer. Combining her interests of museology and science, with immediate responses produced 'in-situ', she creates multi-disciplinary artworks that go through transformations, in order to trigger memories of her experiences. Her work recollects the environment she has explored, but through her memory of it, producing uncanny, and playful results.
Bennett's current body of work is in response to her time in the Tatras Mountains, in Slovakia, which she is integrating with the skills she is learning on her Decorative Surfaces Fellowship, awarded by The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers.
