You are invited to It’s This Finger, an event about painting and the vital act of making.
Bringing together artists who work in the realm of painting and beyond, this gathering explores the act of painting not just as a medium, but as a way of thinking, seeing, and being. Through artworks, conversations, and shared processes, we will reflect on what painting is today and by extension, what it means to be a painter in the current context. In an age of digital imagery, virtual realities, and the rise of AI, we ask: what is the place of the gesture, the analogue and what is the human experience in the midst of it all.
Curated by Aurelie Freoua and Lawrence Blackman, two artists who work in diverse media including painting, poetry, drawing, music, performance and more. The exhibition emerged from a conversation between the two about where their work stands, and a curiosity about how the creative world will develop around their practices.
Watch out for updates of participating artists and examples of their work and join us over the course of the 12–15th June with a series of events including workshops, discussion events, and of course, the exhibition itself!
The event is intended to be community facing and is open for contributions from artists with our limitation being the space provided.
Participating artists currently include Aurelie Freoua, Lawrence Blackman, Jamie Stantonian, Kate Lennard, Bard Carroll, Adam Lucy, Karim, Shahina, and Bettina Schroeder.
